Clearance-Free Maps for Film & TV: Real Roads, Traffic and Navigation
PhoneGuy has its own map app with its own look and no Google or Apple branding, so it needs no map clearance, while still drawing real streets, real routes, traffic jams and turn-by-turn navigation anywhere in the world.
What you can show
Search with typed addresses or coordinates, route overview with travel time and distance, live turn-by-turn navigation with heading-up camera, red and yellow traffic on real road segments, places and pins, plus walk, drive and transit routes.
Why no clearance
The map style, icons, fonts and app chrome are PhoneGuy's own design, not a recognisable trademarked map product. Routes follow real road data, so locations stay believable for a specific city.
Car GPS and in-scene states
A route can be set up as states that follow the script, for example normal driving, then traffic building up, then an alternative road. The clock can be hidden when the script gives no time.
When it fits
Chase scenes, characters navigating, a phone in a dashboard holder, someone typing a destination, or traffic that changes mid-scene.
